Many will remember Dave Lynn as the mentor in Channel Four's ground-breaking series 'Faking It' where Naval Officer, Spence Bowdler, became drag queen, Britney Ferry. The television show was a runaway success, picking up a number of significant awards.

Since the episode was aired in 2003, Dave has been inundated with requests to assist fledgling artists develop their acts and improve upon their stage craft and, in September 2007, Dave did just that. The Academy was a resounding success, resulting in a number of professional bookings for many of the students. The Academy successfully returned in 2008 and another group of cabaret stars were born.

The Dave Lynn Cabaret Academy has been postponed until Spring 2010, but we are still accepting applications and will contact prospective students nearer the time with details of the new dates.

Lucky students will have the opportunity to work with Dave and a team of industry professionals over 10 weeks, developing their acts, helping with the whole look and style of each performer and provide vocal coaching, stage and sound techniques to help prepare the performer for professional bookings.

Each act will also have the opportunity to rehearse and perform on a real stage as the last two course sessions are showcase performances - one open to friends, family, industry and press, and the other to the public.

The team of professionals on hand to lend their support including one or two familiar names in the cabaret world.

The course fee is just £20 per session, with the course running over ten sessions. Open to all performers of all cabaret entertainment genres - drag queens, comedians, vocalists, magicians, ventriloquists, dancers, personality compères - anyone who wants to entertain in a cabaret environment!
